Welcome to Hillbrow
It was laid out as a residential suburb during 1894 and 1895, with Richard Currie auctioning the stands. In 1897 it became part of Johannesburg's Sanitary Board. After World War Two, developers started purchasing the stands at values beyond their worth and eventually turned it into blocks of flats.
Braamfontein
Braamfontein is one of the oldest suburbs in Johannesburg, dating back from the days of the Anglo-Boer war, when Paul Kruger built an army base on a hill (known today as Constitution hill) as he prepared for the British invasion. A view from Constitutional Hill makes a great stand point for the stories of what Joburg is today and where it comes from. With Braamfontein fast becoming the capital of all things hip & creative, Our Braamfontein Walking Tour is a great way to experience the vibrant, urban cool city center. There is a great selection of hipster coffee shops, quirky fashion boutiques and contemporary art galleries to explore, as well as great museums & theatres that host South Africa’s rich urban and historical cultures.

Troyville Walking Tour
The suburb of Troyeville is one of Johannesburg's lesser-known heritage hot spots. Situated just to the east of the inner city, Troyeville is bordered by the more well-known Kensington, Jeppestown, Doornfontein, and Maboneng areas. However, there is just as much to do and see here though not widely spoken about.
The area's unique Portuguese and British history to its core and the most fascinating thing about the area is the house found there originally a middle-class area but soon became home to some of the most diverse and thinking ways.
The church in the area has a unique story to complete the South African story.
Downtown Architectural and Mining Tour
Johannesburg is highly transitional and most backpackers spend on average 2 days in the city. To understand Johannesburg better you need to first make sense of its CBD. On this experience, we will be taking you through four different suburbs that will give you a clear understanding of city life through our eyes. Bringing the word Johustleburg into perspective. The experience is a combination of street art, culture, music, and people in the city. The topics we will be covering on this experience include : politics, migration, history, art, music and architecture.
